"Our year 7 and 8 students absolutely loved their author visit from Kristina Rahim. We have never seen them so engaged with writing as they were when taking part in her workshop on creating a strong book opening, they were absolutely bursting with ideas and enthusiasm."

Visiting schools, libraries, bookshops and meeting young readers is a one of my favourite parts of being an author. I am Empathy Lab Trained, and offer highly interactive assembly style events for large groups as well as creative writing workshops for single classes (max. 35 children).

My assemblies cover my journey to becoming an author, and we discuss what ingredients we need to make a good story. There are interactive quizzes and we celebrate how all of us are unique with a few rounds of the game, Would You Rather.

In my workshops, we discuss the importance of opening lines and how to hook your reader in from the start. Another workshop delves deeper into creating characters and how to make them leap from the page, including tips on how to write convincing and engaging dialogue.

If my visits sound of interest, please get in touch to discuss fees and availability.

I'm passionate about telling stories that focus on unconventional families. My own family inspired my debut middle grade novel, THE DOUGHNUT CLUB. My second novel, MAX AND ELLA, STUCK TOGETHER, explores the topic of nature versus nurture and all things that come together to make you uniquely you.

Both of these stories have main characters that come from family set ups that may be different to others, but they also cover themes of friendship, family and being true to yourself and are full of experiences relatable to all children, no matter how they came into the world.

"...the highlight for our pupils was Kristina's high level of interaction and engagement with them throughout the session. We now have two copies of The Doughnut Club in the library and they are constantly on loan, being snapped up again as soon as they arrived on my desk. This is the magic of author visits!"

"Kristina's visit had the students and staff absolutely buzzing about her visit, I highly recommend her to both Primary and Secondary schools!"

A fresh take on family and what it means to fit in. Hugely commercial and filled with heart, this book is for every reader who needs help being true to themselves. Perfect for fans of Sarah Hagger-Holt and Benjamin Dean. Donor conceived Quinn loves her family, but she often feels the odd one out. Not only because she's the only one with red hair and green eyes, but because she would rather be quietly drawing than surfing or rock-climbing or whatever mad activity her mums and brother Olly might like to do on holiday. But when Quinn's mums tell her and Olly they have sixteen donor siblings, Quinn is really excited. Maybe one of them will be more like her! The only problem is her parents want them to wait until they are older to contact anyone. As she tries to secretly find out more, Quinn starts to lose sight of what's really important - especially when she starts to believe her worst enemy could be one of her siblings! Can she find a way back to her family, whilst finding a way to tell them how she really feels?

From the author of The Doughnut Club, comes a warm, heart-filled story, for every reader who needs help being true to themselves. Max hadn't thought about meeting his donor parent until his mums suggested it. After a tough year starting secondary school, where he was bullied, his confidence has been knocked and he's struggling to enjoy the music he used to love. With a charity concert coming up, the last thing Max wants to do is let down his friends. Maybe meeting his donor, Hari, will help him figure out who he wants to be. Hari is Ella's dad and was a sperm donor before she was born. She's fine with it, but she's not fine with the idea of sharing him with some other kid she's never met. With her mum working abroad and her best friend starting a different senior school, Ella's dealing with enough change already. Now this decision her dad made in his past is messing with her future and she's not happy. When Max ends up gatecrashing Ella's family weekend, things do not go to plan, and they are both pushed to the edge in more ways than one. Will they stay stuck, or will they find a way to come together and the path to their true selves?
