Lisette visited our school and she created a real buzz round school! All of our students loved her visit and she provided a motivational spark for even our reluctant writers. Her warmth and passion for what she does was infectious. Thank you Lisette.

Visit to Chigwell School on Tuesday 3rd March: It was really lovely to welcome Eva to our school recently. We thought she engaged with the children very well and captured their attention through her interesting presentations. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to Eva read aloud her stories. We would have welcomed more movement and interaction in the sessions, where the children could have moved around the hall a little bit – perhaps becoming a character from a story, or doing some actions from ‘Wednesday is for Wiggling’ – to break up the lengthy period of sitting. Thank you Eva.

Ray Star delivered an inspiring and engaging creative writing workshop at De La Salle. Her enthusiasm for storytelling quickly captured students’ attention and created a supportive atmosphere where pupils felt confident sharing ideas and experimenting with their writing. She used imaginative prompts and clear examples to help students develop description, character, and atmosphere in their work. Even reluctant writers became involved and contributed thoughtfully. The session struck an excellent balance between guidance and independence, allowing pupils to develop their own creative voices. Both students and staff greatly valued the experience, and the workshop was a memorable highlight that encouraged confidence, creativity, and a genuine enjoyment of writing

Piers Torday came to school on Tuesday 3rd March to discuss his new book 'Tree Thing' with children in Year 3-6 and a local book shop sold several of his titles for the children to purchase. The afternoon talk was engaging and children enjoyed getting copies of their books signed.

Amazing! It's been enlightening and wonderful to have Richard join our Cub pack twice. First visit he inspired the Cubs with his story characters and explained how he wrote and came up with ideas. The pack then gave Richard some key words and a month later Richard returned with a short story to read to the Cubs on World Book Day! We dressed up and acted out some scenes and all the Cubs went home with a purchased book from Richard's Trilogy The Temporal Detectives. It was a pleasure and we are so grateful as it's also inspired some of the Cubs to continue and compete their Book Reader Activity Badge. Thank you for this service as we couldn't have been introduced to Richard otherwise.

We had a wonderful visit from Penny Joeslson this year to kick start our World Book Day celebrations. She delivered an inspiring talk to Years 7, 8 & 9 sharing the stories behind her books and offering a fascinating insight into her writing process. Her key message to our girls was perseverance matters and to never give up! Penny also led a creative writing workshop with Years 7 & 8 - the girls all worked really well together and produced some fantastic storylines! All-in-all, it was a great visit.
